Today, May 7th, 2020, communities, organizations, and caring people from around the globe will join together for an international day of celebrating and honoring youth workers. Governments are making official proclamations, networks and organizations are holding celebrations, and leaders and other individuals are taking time out to call, write and personally say ‘thank you” to youth workers who are such a valuable and often unsung hero in our communities.
Family & Children’s Center honors our staff that work with youth in many programs including our Group Home, Host Homes Program, Healthy Families, Outpatient Services, Integrated Solutions Program, Independent Living Resources, Stepping Stones and Matty’s Place, Day Treatment, Supervised Visitation, Respite, Treatment Foster Care, Youth Act, and Youth Night Campus.
Our staff work tirelessly in order to help the future of tomorrow overcome obstacles and barriers as well as stereotypes and statistics. According to the National Collaboration for Youth, a youth worker is an individual who works with or on behalf of youth to facilitate their personal, social and educational development and enable them to gain a voice, influence and place in society as they make the transition from dependence to independence. We all can point to a youth worker who had an impact on our life, whether that be a coach, mentor, or leader in our community.
Please join Family & Children’s Center in celebrating our youth workers on this special day by reaching out to someone you know that is making a difference today for the future of tomorrow.
