Winter Weather Strikes Again

To answer some of the questions we have received, as well as a Speak Out, the agency is not looking to close in the next couple days due to the predicted cold weather. Several people have asked questions about the cold weather, and whether or not is safe to leave home, travel, etc. especially with some entities like school districts announcing plans to close.

As mentioned previously, the agency’s bad weather practice is intended to balance employee and client safety with the need to provide services. The agency has a procedure for calling in due to weather (Absences and Leaves, HR202) but the Work From Home procedure (HR232) is not intended as a back up for bad weather days. If you have questions about either of these procedures please contact your supervisor.

Our overall goal is to make sure you feel safe commuting, and if the weather is making you nervous you always have the freedom to leave – or not come in – and you have the right to use earned vacation hours in lieu of work hours. Please be assured we will continually monitor weather conditions and if a closing decision is made we will certainly be in touch.
