Riverside Corporate Wellness – You’re on My Machine

You’re on My Machine…

You walk into the fitness facility, ready to hit the weights…and someone is using “your” piece of equipment. Instead of wandering around and waiting, here are ways you can get going on your workout without wasting time.

Begin with your core.

Don’t wait until the end of the workout. If you’re pressed for time, move it to the beginning of your workout. It decreases the chance that you’ll skip it, and promotes good core stability throughout your strength training.

No barbell? No problem.

Change up your weight source and how you use it, but maintain the same movement pattern. Doing so can provide equal or perhaps even greater benefit. For example, move to a racked dumbbell squat. This increases the amount of core stability required throughout.

Work on mobility or stability.

Spend a few minutes while waiting to increase your mobility and stability. You’ll prime your body to move more efficiently and effectively during your workout and you’ll decrease the risk of injury by warming up.

Keep these simple tips in mind and use them.

Even though “your” machine may be in use, there’s no reason you can’t get started on your workout anyway.
