Gear
Dress appropriately for the weather. It is better to dress in snug fitting layers rather than opting for heavier clothing. One reason for this is that you can more easily add on layers or take them off as needed to regulate your body temperature. Another reason is comfort, as heavier clothing might restrict your range of motion while exercising. It is also a good idea to wear moisture wicking clothing such as microfiber fabric or wool. This prevents sweat from accumulating and leaving you feeling cold. Bringing a backpack might be helpful for bringing snacks and water or for adding and taking off layers while on the trail. Safety Tips
Don’t forget to include a proper warm up and cool down when participating in vigorous exercise such as cross-country skiing. Some light stretching prior to beginning will go a long way to prevent unwanted injuries. Just like any form of exercise, proper nutrition and hydration are essential. High carb snacks will give you the energy you need to make the most of your experience.
