Paint the Town Purple a huge success for the Domestic Abuse Project!

On Saturday, October 22, the Vernon County Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) held its third annual A Night Out on the Town: Paint the Town Purple fundraiser at the Viroqua VFW. This event included a dinner, program, silent and live auctions, 50/50 raffle and an audience-participation game of Heads or Tails. Paint the Town Purple is the sole fundraiser of the DAP program and is used to create awareness of domestic violence and to raise funds for the program.

This year’s event was extremely successful as the number of attendees and amount raised by the silent and live auctions exceeded those in previous years. The event raised over $6,000 and with a generous $5,000 match offered by Vernon Memorial Hospital, the total raised will be over $11,000! These funds will be used to help meet the match required by the program grant and to provide direct client need services.

The fundraiser could not have been the success that it was without the efforts of all those who participated, donated and helped with the event. All the work the FCC Development department, especially Kelsey Matula, did for the event is greatly appreciated. The support shown by the attendance of many FCC staff means a lot to the DAP program.

Finally, a special thank you goes out to Lisa Hynek, DAP Coordinator, and Kelsey Thompson, Children’s Advocate, for all the time they spent acquiring donations and sponsorships, planning, setting-up, and working on all the other details that ensured this year’s fundraiser was successful.
