BASIC PURPOSE: Carries out the services of a Supported Employment Specialist by assisting clients in developing and achieving goals and desired outcomes.

All staff must maintain sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. All staff must maintain regular communication with their supervisor and ensure s/he is properly informed. The statements below describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Engages clients and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships. Provides individualized supports to assist clients in obtaining their goals
  2. Provides outreach services as necessary to clients when they appear to disengage from the service. Uses a variety of methods to provide outreach.
  3. Attends and participates in all required staff meetings and communicates individually with team members between meetings in order to coordinate needed services
  4. Completes all required reports and billing in a timely and accurate fashion
  5. Works effectively and non-defensively with a variety of personalities, is aware of and sensitive to the cultural diversity of clients, co-workers, and other persons in the performance of job duties
  6. Completes job development to program standards within the community

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ENVIRONMENT:

Education, Training & Work Experience: Depending on program, may require bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling or related field is required. Some positions may require a valid social work license.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Familiar with the human service delivery system, recovery principles and appropriate ethics and boundaries.

Equipment & Applications: Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, e-mail, scanner and FAX machine, as well as enterprise software

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Indoor office environment, as well as work in the community setting or in client’s homes. Local travel will be required. Additional physical demands could include occasional lifting, bending, twisting, or reaching.
