A recent anonymous Speak Out suggested we should have a way for clients to apply for services online versus through paper. We absolutely support that idea and are looking to find ways to reduce our use of paper. That allows us to use less paper for printing, copying and storing, but also assures we take advantage of capabilities offered by technology. Even more importantly, we want to make sure our clients are able to utilize the agency in the easiest, most practical way possible.
We had already begun an effort to streamline client enrollment forms – we are looking to reduce the total number of forms required and make sure forms across programs have a similar look and feel. We want to make these improvements while still honoring our commitments to various licensing and accreditation entities.
Right now, however, we are beginning the process to update our existing EHR vendor which will take place around the end of the year. As a result of that we have put the work mentioned on hold while we go through the vetting process. Rest assured that the ability to make forms more flexible over time in addition to being electronic is high on our list of priorities. If you have specific suggestions for things we should look for in evaluating new vendors please pass that information along to your supervisor.
In the meantime – whoever you are – the idea you submitted is appreciated!
