An important update on pay- from the desk of Tita Yutuc

The most important news I want to share is that there will be a 4% wage increase for most employees. This increase will be effective July 2, and will be reflected in paychecks on Friday, July 21, 2023. As in the past, the increase will not impact those who have been hired since Jan 1, of this year, received a salary increase or have received a written disciplinary action in 2023. For those with an ongoing pay plan the 4% increase will apply to you and will also be added to subsequent planned increases.

I also want to give you an idea of how we have been looking to further adapt our pay scales. We made adjustments in the past year to our wage ranges in an effort to be in sync with a fast moving market. If you recall we raised the ranges for positions in the lower half of our scale, which included a large portion of our workforce. To accomplish this, we made quarterly range increases to several grades at a time through July 1, 2022. These adjustments were in addition to a 4% annual increase last year. Those who were already high in their range may not have seen an increase, but the change did impact a number of existing staff and also helped us compete in a very dynamic employment market. We are presently looking at our more senior positions which have yet to be adjusted. Our goal is to provide increases where possible while considering an incumbent’s place in their range, contribution and competitiveness with the market.

Managing compensation is not an easy task, and it is even more difficult in a swiftly changing environment. That said, we also want to treat all employees fairly and look forward to continuing this work
