Good News for Weston Facility!

A local collaboration applied for and received a $1.4 million dollar HUD grant distributed by the State of Wisconsin, to create two new programs, a housing and community day resource center and a runaway and homeless youth shelter in La Crosse.

Our role in this collaboration is truly a win for FCC at this time. The collaboration will rent the previous youth home space for about $3.2K/month so that they may operate a runaway and homeless youth shelter. Similarly to Adult and Teen Challenge, we are not responsible for programming or staffing the program. We will benefit in a number of ways, certainly in the utilization of unoccupied space receiving rent payments and will likely benefit from referrals to our Host Homes program. Because this grant is only good between April 2021 and April 2022, we are not committed to this for the long haul. Our strategic plan focuses efforts on programming at that property with a hope FCC fully utilizes that space w/ programming we lead. For the time being, we will be supporting a program much needed within our community and generating revenue along the way.

A press release will be going out early this week and the news is likely to pick this up – note that our facility will not be identified in the press release. We have already advised Adult and Teen Challenge which is currently utilizing a portion of the Weston building and we are in the process of notifying our neighbors.
