FCC Employee Recognition Award Winners!

Values At Work Award

Melissa Duin, Human Resources Associate, is the winner of the Values at Work Award!  She was nominated by Kathy Rohr.  From Kathy’s nomination:

“I don’t know how Melissa does it, but she maintains such a great attitude.  She always has a smile and conversation, even when I know she is up to her elbows in time sheets, applications, and organizing the hiring process.  Sometimes when I approach her at the front desk, I see that there are already 2 people asking things of her and calls coming in on the phone.  When we work together on hires, I always feel like she’s there to help me.

The scope of Melissa’s work is what makes her an outstanding example.  Not many employees serve the entire agency- all locations and all employees.  Melissa’s work touches us all every time sheet period, when she spends hours working on time sheets so that we can all be paid.

Melissa’s graciousness in working with both staff and outside guests/callers at the front desk seems like it could qualify her for an award on most any day.  We all call or stop by wanting something and fast, and Melissa helps all of us with a smile and gracious attitude.  The scope of the crises she deals with goes across programs and locations- as police are called, clients having bad days are agitated in the waiting room or hallways, and staff or clients call/stop by and are desperate to reach FCC employees, when we can be difficult to reach.  When I think about helping all of the programs, I think it could be pretty overwhelming, but Melissa handles these things easily.”

Leadership Award

Suzie Howe, Clinical Coordinator/Case Manager, CSP Viroqua, is the winner of the Leadership Award!  She was nominated by Kathy Rohr.  From Kathy’s nomination:

“Suzie Howe runs the CSP Vernon program and The Other Door drop-in center in Viroqua.  She runs both programs very successfully, and is a long term, solid leader in the agency.

We’ve recently had the good fortune of growth at the Viroqua office.   A competitor in Viroqua closed its doors and we were approached to grow services in multiple areas in a program area poised for significant growth and with strong financial sustainability.  Part of this recent development can be attributed to Suzie and her programs’ fantastic work in Viroqua and her ability to work through difficult times without severing relationships.  Specifically, Suzie worked positively with the county after contracts left FCC.  It was a delicate time and Suzie maintained the relationships that put our agency in the position to grow again now.  Suzie’s programs maintained the excellent quality of services which contribute to the agency’s vision of being the leading provider of human services in the area.   Maintaining relationships and providing excellent services put us in the position to grow again.

Suzie exemplifies the leader attributes of persistence and commitment to excellence.  Going through difficult times, Suzie was persistent in continuing the good work of the programs she runs, as well as keeping the faith that in doing excellent work, good will come of it.”

Congratulations, Melissa and Suzie!

It is people like you that make FCC a wonderful place to be.
