Who guessed Walfsty Pierre?! If you did, you are right! Walfsty is one of the WI Outpatient Therapists and joined the FCC team in August of this year. We are so happy to have you! One thing he is proud to share about the WI OP Program is they are working on providing more outpatient therapy to children.
When Walfsty is not hard at work he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and his dogs, Tootsie and Cocoa. They have spent a lot of time on different trails, and purchased a State Park Sticker this year to enjoy nature even more! Walfsty also has a secret cooking talent. He enjoys being in the kitchen and hosting friends for good food… now we know who to call for a good meal!

Who inspires you?
- During my undergrad, my father became ill, and my brother, who is ten years younger than me, started getting into trouble. This inspired me to make better decisions with my life and finish school because I knew I would be the next one to care for my family. Two years later, I took in my little brother, and I had to continue heading into the right path to be a role model for him. Now my children inspire me to be the best role model for them!
If you could have dinner with any famous person who would you choose?
- I want to sit down and have dinner with Trevor Noah. He is funny even when he is not trying to be. I would have to cook and ask him to invest in my restaurant.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
- I like nature and waterfalls. Currently, Gooseberry Falls is my favorite!
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
- When I was 17-years-old, I left Miami, FL, and signed to play football in Crookston, MN, without a prior visit or knowing anything about the town or the school.
What is part of your daily routine that you look forward to every day?
- When I get home from work and my daughters yell “PAPAS HOME” repeatedly!
What is one hobby you would love to get into?
- I want to get into ice fishing again, which was something my college roommate introduced me to.
What is your secret talent that no one knows about?
- I am a great cook. My wife and kids love my cooking. Others that have tried my cooking praise it. I once held a “Couples Dinner” at my home to raise money for a homeless shelter. Everyone that came to that dinner left with a full stomach. I like sharing my food with others and, hopefully, to have some people over for some food post-COVID-19. When I was growing up, my mother always cooked a lot of food just if a friend or family stopped by; they would have enough to eat and take a plate to take home!
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?
- Expert dog trainer. My dog, Tootsie, is impressive, and I consider her as my emotional support animal, but there are times she gets so hyper and demands so much attention. My wife’s dog hates me, runs away from me, and wants nothing to do with me.
What is your favorite family tradition?
- My wife and I like to wrap 25 Christmas books and have our children open one a night before bed in December.
What do you like on your pizza?
- I would try anything that is not fruit or pork!
Spring, summer, fall or winter: What’s your favorite season and why?
- I love the fall weather and hate summer. Although I lived in Miami for most of my life, I cannot tolerate the heat. I more willing to accept the cold weather by adding extra layers and sitting by a fireplace.
If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would buy?
- First, I would pay off my student loans, any other debt I have, and then set up a college fund for Black students interested in social work and becoming mental health professionals. I am also frugal, so I would save a lot of it and keep working. I would also open a restaurant and try to incorporate food and music into therapy.
What activity helps you relieve stress?
- I like spending time on the trail with nature. I like walking with my dog. I listen to music on my way home on the highest volume. The combined spice I use in my cooking is like my aromatherapy.
What is your favorite dessert?
- I would eat anything with peanut butter or make it with Oreos. My in-laws like to make peanut butter balls around the holidays.
Where were you born? What is an interesting fact about your hometown?
- I was born in Haiti and moved to the United States when I was eight years old. I lived and did my schooling in Miami, FL. Haiti is the first country to be founded by former slaves. I lived in Port-au-price which is where Le Nègre Marron is located. Le Nègre Marron represent a symbol of black liberation.
