When Jen is not hard at work she enjoys reading a great book. She could read for hours if there were no interruptions. She is currently reading the Game of Thrones series. 2.5 more books to go and highly recommends them! She also enjoys camping, traveling and baking with her family.

Who inspires you?
- My grandmother, mother, aunt, and brother are the people who inspire me. Two years ago we found out that my grandmother had a gene for cancer of the stomach lining. We were all tested and it turns out they all had the same gene. The only treatment that guarantees you don’t get the cancer (which is usually missed until it is too late) is removal of the stomach. So now my grandmother, mom, aunt, and brother are getting back to their normal lives, just without a stomach! They are all amazing!
If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would you choose?
- I would skip the famous person and choose to have dinner with family and friends that I have lost. I would much prefer their company over a person I have never met and probably would turn out to be a disappointment to meet in real life!
Where is your favorite place in the world?
- My favorite place isn’t a specific place, but a type of place. Being at a beach that has cooler temperatures (Fort Bragg, CA, Algoma Beach) and listening to the waves roll or being in the mountains by a big creek (Golden Trout, CA) and listening to the water makes me happy. The sound of water soothes my soul.
What animal do you think most closely matches your personality?
- I have no idea what animal matches my personality. But just to show how highly my family thinks of me, my husband said a meerkat (the females are the viscous ones in the species, but they’re social) and my stepfather said a donkey (because I am so stubborn). So there you go!
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
- I used to jump off bridges into the river with friends (yes, because everyone else was doing it) and one time I was passenger on a street bike that was going well over the speed limit (shhh, don’t tell my mom)!
What is part of your daily routine that you look forward to every day?
- Normally, I would say coming home from work to see my girls after they get out of school and talking about their day. But, we’re already on month 3 of summer vacation and it’s only June, so now most days my favorite part of my daily routine is any time I get peace and quiet.
What is one hobby you would love to get into?
- I would love to get back into dirt bike riding. We did it all the time when I was younger and lived at home. It’s such a rush to ride through the mountains and it’s a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends!
What is your secret talent that no one knows about?
- I enjoy baking and decorating cakes and I’m fairly decent at it. I’m pretty good at painting nails. Oh! I can change the oil in my vehicles and change a tire. I bet many people wouldn’t guess that.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?
- I would love to wake up one day and be really into physical fitness. I hate exercising. I don’t find it enjoyable at all. So if I could snap my fingers and be an expert, I would suddenly be awesome at working out and I would enjoy it.
What do you like on your pizza?
- My favorite pizza is Hawaiian pizza with black olives. The saltiness of the olives cuts the sweetness of the pineapple and it’s delicious!
If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would buy?
- I would buy a house that is big enough for my family to comfortably stay with us when they come to visit, with a big wrap around porch, and enough property for everyone to run around outside adventuring all day and not get bored.
What activity helps you relieve stress?
- I am definitely a soaking in the bath for hours reading a book type of person. I should probably invest in a limitless water heater because I just drain out all the water when it gets cool and fill it back up with hot water until I am ready to get out
What is your favorite dessert?
- Homemade New York style cheesecake with sour cream topping is my favorite dessert, hands down, no questions asked. My step mother would make it when I lived at home and now I make it for myself. Google “Joy of Baking New York Cheesecake”, you will not be disappointed. It takes quite a bit of time to make it, and it absolutely has to sit in the fridge overnight, but is it SO worth the wait.
Where were you born? What is an interesting fact about your hometown?
- I was born in Oroville, CA. Oroville has the largest earthen dam in the United States. When they built it in the 60’s they had to buy out a bunch of people who had homes in the area that is now Oroville Lake. The home my dad came home to as a baby is one of those homes. You probably saw on the news in 2017 when the dam was damaged and the town was evacuated for fear of flooding (don’t worry, everything worked out fine)!
