It’s Kendra Atherton-Guenther! Kendra is a Healthy Families Case Manager and has been with FCC since October of 2018! Kendra proudly shared that the Healthy Families team recently went to a conference on Infant Mental Health and attended a session on utilizing arts and music for those who have experienced trauma. The team brought back some of the crafts and music techniques to expand upon our trauma informed work with families!

Who inspires you?
- My son is my role model! He’s not even two years old and inspires me so much! He is constantly educating me on the joy a smile can bring someone, seeking adventures, the necessity of play and the ability to judge those around me. He drives me to work hard and live life to the fullest!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- Cereal of any kind! When I was growing up a bowl of cereal was considered a meal for dinner at least twice and that’s a tradition I’ve passed along to my own family.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
- Malawi, Africa. I spent a semester there my senior year of college interning with a rural hospital and educating at an orphanage on public health related topics. I was fully embraced by the family I lived with and the cultural traditions I experienced, and left a part of me there when I returned home. I was able to experience the hidden beauty and treasures of a country that is often undervalued by the rest of the world.
What animal do you think most closely matches your personality?
- A humming bird, I have a difficult time sitting still and am always on the go.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
- When I was on a safari in Africa, I got out of the vehicle to get a closer picture of an elephant after countless times of being warned about the dangers of lions and charging elephant herds. I would definitely do it all over again!
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
- I would want the superpower of flying; to be able to travel and explore the world without the barriers of a plane ticket.
What is one hobby you would love to get into?
- I would love to experiment and broaden my cooking expertise. I have an interest in attempting to cook more with what I’ve grown in my garden or creating more with homemade breads and pastas. It’s one of my 2020 New Year’s resolutions!
What do you like on your pizza?
- I really love unusual pizza toppings such as macaroni and cheese and taco! Every summer my family explores the various pizza farms around the area and we always order the most unique pizza combinations.
What is your secret talent that no one knows about?
- I can ride a unicycle…without tipping over right away!
