Kirsten Moffler-Daykin, Instructor at Hope Academy in La Crosse
Nominated by Amanda Jalensky
From Amanda’s nomination:
Kirsten started with Hope Academy the beginning of the current school year, having to jump in the deep end right off the bat. She started with a huge academic mess and 8 students, and that number quickly increased to 11 and then two weeks later 13! She has been extremely responsive to the needs of the program while juggling the needs of the purchasers. She has brought innovative ideas and practices to our program while providing excellent services to the students. Her academic skills have been tested over and over and she continues to thrive and stretch as an educator. She continues to case manage the academics while teaching classes and managing 13 youth all on different education plans and widely varying levels of capability. Students who struggle academically are earning A’s and B’s in their courses… and actually doing the work to earn the grades, not just showing up.
Congratulations, Kirsten and THANK YOU!!
Wendy Pregel, Family Support Worked with In-Home Safety Services in La Crosse
Nominated by Amanda Jalensky
From Amanda’s nomination:
Wendy started working in our In Home Safety Services Program in December just as our FT staff transitioned to another department and our PT staff went on vacation for a month. Working overtime Wendy quickly got trained in and acquainted with the program and our county partners. She was responsive to the current needs of the program and our goal to improve our relationship with the county. Wendy was respectful to our partners and the families we work with in every aspect of her work. The increase of referrals was a direct result of the excellent work Wendy was doing. In addition, without too much detail I can say that the work Wendy was doing with a filth and squalor house, is work that no other person in any agency or business would have done. She continues to make an amazing difference with that family and accomplished more in a month with that client than we could ever have hoped for or thought possible.
Way to go, Wendy!
Laurie Williams, Nurse, WRIC-CSP in Sparta
Nominated by Suzie Howe
From Suzie’s nomination:
Laurie is a nurse at Sparta CSP. She agreed to be trained in as a fill in nurse for CSP Viroqua. She has been able to fill in on short notice and covered longer periods of planned fill in. She has been able to develop a positive rapport with clients despite only filling in periodically. She is also covering fill in for Winona which I am not as familiar with but I know that they need her services and I can only assume that doing her job plus filling in at two remote locations can be very difficult and she does it all with a smile. This is not part of her regular duties and requires distance travel she would not otherwise need to do. Laurie’s willingness to help out allows the Winona program to stay open as they need a nurse to be operational. It also allows our Viroqua CSP nurse to take sick and vacation time which helps to retain this valuable position.
Awesome work, Laurie!
Kristen Kingery, Coordinator of Treatment Foster Care and Respite Services, WI
Nominated by Chrystal Stegen
From Chrystal’s nomination:
Kristen is Coordinator of TFC and Respite yet she is also taking the role of supervisor for 3 new programs (Host Home, Level 5, Independent Living) on top of it all. While doing tis she is always available for her staff, clients and other colleagues to support and help in any way she can. I am nominating Kristen as I am the newest employee under her supervision. While she is taking on hiring new employees and implementing new programs, she has remained available to me whenever I need assistance. I was worried when I found out how much she had going on as I started but I have not felt without support for a minutes since I started my position at FCC. The rest of the staff that works under her is just as supportive and everyone has such a great demeanor. It has been said that a good staff is reflective of a good supervisor and I believe that is true with what I have seen since I started.
Well done, Kristen!
Becky Lubinsky, Revenue Cycle Supervisor
Nominated by Kathy Rohr and Diane Weigel
From Kathy’s nomination:
Becky went above and beyond in working with us to improve our system for getting paid for WWC services we provide. Working with managed care can be frustrating and we had to start from scratch to create a system that works for us, so that we organize our authorizations, communicate well with WWC, and get paid for our services. Becky even attends meetings with us and WWC to work through the kinks. In addition, WWC farmed out their payment for services recently and their system caused a lot of payments to get sent back unpaid. Becky worked with them on their end to try to fix what is their problem, but when they couldn’t, she fixed matters on our end. This ensures that we will get paid for our services. Many times, direct care staff don’t see what all happens behind the scenes to ensure we get paid, but now that I have I am very grateful for the staff that take care of these matters.
From Diane’s nomination:
Becky chose to fully implement billing through EHR right away even though that was not the expected or easy way. It was a lot of work to go through this conversion, and had to be managed while still billing for our services in the former method. It was however, the most direct path to getting it done in a timely way along with benefiting from improved methods – improved collections, better understanding of denials that could turn to revenue, reduced billing staff requirements, etc. It also provided the basis for use of metrics and improved methods for our revenue cycle team as follows:
- reduced accounts receivable >120 days from 14% to less than 9%;
- net collection improved from 83% to 90%;
- total denied claims reduced from over $200,000/mo to less than $50,000/mo;
- days to bill from 39 down to 29
Terrific, Becky!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR WINNERS!
It is people like you that make FCC a wonderful place to be.
