Coming to a location near you!

This used to be the lead-in for announcing new movies, and also applies to another element of our effort to expand communication opportunities beyond GVC. There are two areas of focus here. The first is having the senior team and some of our Admin staff spend more time in locations other than GVC, particularly Winona which is our second largest site. With that in mind we have developed a routine schedule of regular days for some staff to work at the Franklin Street Building (FSB). Our goal with this is to increase the opportunities for interaction and familiarity in both directions. The second area of focus is for senior leadership to make regular visits to sites other than FSB so a schedule was established for that. Since BRF and Sparta staff spend much of their time out of the office we will rely on ad hoc visits to those sites. So far this year that has worked pretty well.

Below you will find a summary of the site visit schedule through 2017. You will also find this schedule reflected in the Events Calendar on the Depot (first tab under FCC Life) so you can refer to it at any time. Things may come up that cause adjustments to the planned visits, but having a plan laid out certainly improves our ability to plan for – or around – them. If planned dates are moved, they will be reflected in the events calendar. Bottom line, we are looking forward to getting around and hope you are too.

The town hall meetings are reflected in the Internal Communication Policy we recently released. The policy itself – along with the planned site visits –  is a direct result of feedback from the annual survey, and is intended to layout our standards for communicating by which the organization can judge itself.  Although survey results told us employees would like to see communication improved, it was not clear to the leadership team what people wanted or expected to hear, how they wanted to hear it, or from whom. We asked around, and crafted the policy as a guide for all of us. It covers a lot of things we already do – like sharing birthdays and service anniversaries – to some new things like the town hall meetings. It also covers expectations for all of us in terms of playing a part to support a culture known for great communication practices.

I believe the Internal Communication Policy and site visits will go a long way to fostering the quality and quantity of communication at FCC, and we will continue to look for ways to “keep all the channels open all the time.”

As always, thanks for all you do!

Tita
