Clarifying Medical Benefits

I received a recent Speak Out concern related to a request for staff eligible to receive health insurance benefits to complete a medical form. I would like to take a moment of your time to provide further clarification.  As we approach the renewal of our health plan, we want to be sure we are offering the best and most cost effective health plan to our employees. We feel that it is in our best interest to explore alternatives with other carriers who may offer equivalent or better coverage at more affordable rates.

To do that a form must be completed, which is similar to the form that was sent out a couple years ago. This form is confidential and does NOT go to Family & Children’s Center in any way. I can appreciate any concern about sharing medical histories, medications etc… and not wanting one’s employer to have this information but this is 100% an absolute misconception. FCC does not receive this information, the information does not get routed to us…the form is completed on an external site which only the broker can access. The insurance broker utilizes this data to put our plan out to bid. This is the process that any  health plan goes thru when looking at alternatives.
I hope this information has provided further clarity for those employees with questions. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with anyone that continues to have lingering concerns. I want to reiterate that all eligible employees, essentially, all FT employees are required to complete this form. If you still have a question about the form or the process you can call the broker directly. We are using Janice Wavra at (608) 791-3172. Janice was here for open enrollment last year so many of you have already met her.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
