Join our team as the Director of Advancement & Marketing in La Crosse, WI!

BASIC PURPOSE: Reporting to the President/CEO, the Director of Advancement & Marketing is responsible for managing current donor relations, as well as, developing new donors and prospective board members. Additionally, the Director is responsible for all major gift initiatives ($5,000 and above) for the agency including funds, endowments and planned giving. Major gifts do not include annual giving.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all functions of the advancement office including but not limited to public relations, marketing support and major gifts. This includes supervising the advancement office staff.
  • Work in collaboration with the President/CEO to steward current and prospective donor relationships to enhance agency engagement and major gifts giving, including planned giving. Facilitate all aspects of the major gift cycle: including initial and ongoing contacts w/ potential major donors, develop appropriate cultivation strategies, move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure, make solicitations, and maintain stewardship contacts w/ major gift donors.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan in conjunction with the President/CEO, advancement staff, Advancement Committee and Board.
  • Be a collaborative member of the agency’s senior leadership team and represent the advancement office at all agency board meetings and Advancement Committee meetings.
  • Oversee and develop other key fundraising projects and tasks, including the production of appeal mailings, fundraising/special events and outreach materials to include annual reports, brochures, fundraising materials, press releases and updating the agency’s website.
  • Assure the advancement office coordinates grant writing, RFPs, and research needed to assure agency advancement.
  • Maintain regular communication with the President/CEO to assure she/he is properly informed regarding the advancement office. Complete all other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.
  • Manage assigned list of donors facilitating all aspects of the gift cycle including initial and ongoing contacts with potential donors, develop appropriate cultivation strategies, move potential donors in a timely and appropriate way towards solicitation and closure, make solicitations and maintain stewardship contact with donors.
  • Work in collaboration with the President/CEO and other advancement staff to steward current donor relationships to enhance agency engagement, annual giving, major gifts and planned giving.
  • Participate in the management of the donor database and donor acknowledgement systems including data entry, thank-you.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ENVIRONMENT:

Education, Training & Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ demonstrated leadership experience in a fund advancement capacity, including staff supervision and management experience

Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills required, as well as experience in budget advancement, management and supervision of teams. Must be familiar with standard advancement office and fundraising concepts, practices and procedures, and be able to demonstrate the agency’s mission, vision and values on a daily basis.

Equipment & Applications: Independently execute desktop PC applications including Gmail, Microsoft Office and advancement software.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Normal office environment and related conditions with minimal infrequent lifting, bending and standing. Same day travel between agency locations as required as is occasional overnight travel for association meetings and conferences.
