April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the
year, Family & Children’s Center encourages all individuals and organizations to
play a role in making the region a better place for children and families.
This is certainly a core component to our mission, so we invite all staff to help
us celebrate and recognize the incredible work we do everyday to build strong
families and ultimately work towards the elimination of child abuse.

Join us to support the cause April 2-8, 2018

Monday, April 2—Pinwheels for Prevention
Take a Monday-minute and decorate a pinwheel for prevention! We’re encouraging staff
to decorate a pinwheel and programs to use this as an activity to promote child abuse
prevention. Once decorated, hang your pinwheels at your location all month long for
everyone to see! Feel free to decorate your lobbies or program spaces in blue. [Coloring
sheets will be available electronically.)

Wednesday, April 4— Wear Blue
Royal blue is the official color for child abuse prevention, but any kind of blue will do. Blue
jeans, blue shirt, blue socks… be creative! Post your BLUE pictures on social media and tag
@Family & Children’s Center on Facebook or @familiesforgood on Twitter & Instagram. [Blue
Ribbons/Pins will be available at your front desk.)

Friday, April 6—High Five Friday
Meaningful connections with responsible adults is key for childhood safety. Give a high five or
send a thank you note with a special message of gratitude to a deserving caregiver or mentor
in your life, like one of your parents, your child’s babysitter or a good friend. He or she will
surely appreciate the recognition. [Special notecards will be available at your front desk.)

Thank you notecards
